January Lunch

Detroit Alumni,
With the new year we are going to add a new location to our lunch rotation with a lunch location on the East side. We will start that next month.
For our January lunch we will meet on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at The Clawson Steakhouse at 56 South Rochester Rd. in Clawson 48017 at 1130. Please email back for a reservation if possible, but last minute arrivals are always welcome. See you for lunch and enjoy the Dark Ages!

The Army-Navy Game Party is just around the corner, 13 days as I write this. It looks tough for us this year, but always remember, anything can happen in the Army-Navy game!! November Lunch and Army/Navy Update

Detroit Alumni,
This is not a good year for Navy football. We are 2 and 7 on the season, and Army is 7 and 2. The only way to make it a winning season will be to BEAT ARMY!! With that in mind, attached and below is the flyer for Army-Navy game party for our two alumni groups and relatives and friends. I apologize for not putting the following info on the flyer: “George Murphy’s At The Creek” is located on the Fox Creek Golf Course one mile West of Farmington Rd on 7 Mile Rd. BEAT ARMY!!

September Lunch

Navy football started off with a loss to Hawaii 59 to 41. But last week we came back with a big 13 point rally in the 4th quarter and beat Memphis 22 to 21. This Saturday there will probably be a lot of rain when we play Lehigh due to Hurricane Florence.

The 4 Day All Academy Challenge resulted in $800,000 for Navy from 3500 donors!!

May Update & June Lunch

Detroit Alumni,
I have some interesting info on several items for you. First, all the service academies are again joining in a giving competition this year that starts on Thursday, May 31 and goes for four days. Although the amount raised is important, the main goal is to get large participation. Navy has usually had the highest amount, but not the greatest participation. Go to ALLACADEMYCHALLENGE.COM and donate even a small amount from May 31 to June 4. GO NAVY!!
Number 2 – I like to mention the Service Academy Career Conferences every now and then because they can be so helpful to Alumni. Whenever you need one go to SACC Conference website and you will see a three year schedule of future conferences, 4 per year. If you need more info email me.
Number 3 – I think most of you have heard at one time or another about the first class in the class of ’55, I think, who all marched off the field at the last P-rade leaving their shoes on the field. Well, last week I was at the Naval Academy to present a prize for the Navy League at the awards ceremony. As part of the festivities I attended the Color P-rade, the last P-rade of the year. As the Mids marched off the guy next to me said “Look over there!”. On the ground where part of the Color Company had stood, in about a 2 yard square area, were about 10 pairs of black shoes! I loved watching a couple of mates scurrying out to pick them up.
Don’t forget dues of $20 are due now. Make check to USNAAA Detroit Chapter and send to Art Bryant at 1811 Hollywood; Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
Heads up that the next lunch is on June 11 at Beau’s in Bloomfield Hills.

Spring is finally here, and I have an inch of water in my basement. Trade offs, always trade offs. Well anyway, this month’s lunch will be at The Clawson Steak House on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 1130. There is always room.
